Hey, look! It’s a new sketch!

Due to an incredibly hectic weekend, this is the first we’ve gotten around to writing about the amazing night we had on Friday at the Arena Sketch Competition. So much thanks to James, Ed, the judges, everyone who came out, everyone at the Creek and the Cave, and our two great competitors (Missing Earl and Bedtime Brothers) for a ridiculously fun time.
In case you’re wondering, no, we didn’t win. We did receive the highest judge vote yet in the tournament! Or, at least, we had the highest vote until those Missing Earl jerks came and tied us and then beat us in the audience vote. Grumble grumble. Oh well, it’s a good thing they’re awesome.
We got some great feedback from everyone who was there, including a bunch of folks from Murderfist which is awesome as well as, of course, the judges (I believe it was Mike Still who said we had the best “interpretive dance sex scene” he’d seen which is exactly what we were going for). Also, I heard some guy in the audience say Izzie looks like Emma Stone which cracks me up because I’ve been saying that since Superbad came out.
All in all, it was a great night and we’ll let you know next time we hit the stage which, hopefully, should be very soon.
ps. If you’re curious, the image above comes from the video that was supposed to introduce one of the sketches by playing while we set up. Unfortunately the sound was the only thing that worked so no one got to see what Dave put together. I’d call it a loss except for the fact that one of the judges specifically cited our interesting use of audio inbetween sketches…

I just spent 10 minutes listening trying to find the perfect rooster crowing sound effect. This is the kind of perfectionism you get at an Electric Blanket show.
Come to The Arena on Friday to hear the best rooster the Internet has to offer!
(our sketches are fun too)

missingearl:

Mr Stevens’ wife is dead.  Recorded in February at UCB’s Backyard Brawl.

This is the sketch group Missing Earl. They’re quite funny. This means that we’re gonna have to be even funnier this Friday when we compete against them and The Bedtime Brothers this Friday night in the Arena!

Basically there’s gonna be a lot of funny on Friday. Come!

Hey all, long time no Tumbl or whatever.
We’re in the middle of editing three new video sketches (that’s right, three!) and, in the meantime, we’re going to be doing our first big live performance as a group! Whoo!
We’ll be competing in the Arena Sketch Tournament at the world famous Creek and the Cave*. The first night of the tournament will be tomorrow. We’re competing next week and we’ll be posting annoying you more in the coming days. Until then, here’s a picture. It has something to do with what we’ll be doing next week.
*”World famous” if your entire world consists of New York indie comedians or if you’ve never left Queens. Either way, sorry.

Our video’s on the UCBcomedy.com homepage. We could totally act all cool and pretend we aren’t embarrassingly psyched about this, but what’s the point?

We spent Saturday shooting at the office.
GET IT? SHOOTING? LIKE WITH A GUN? COMEDY!
